Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you based?
We’re in the heart of Newport, minutes from the M4 and a short walk from Newport station;
20 minutes from Cardiff and 45 minutes from Bristol.
Can we come and have a look around?
Call us. If we’re not busy recording we’re always happy to show people around.
How many people can you record at once?
In Space 1 (audio only) we’re set up to record four people in comfort. In the larger spaces we can record two people (with video) in the lounge set, or four (with video) around the big table.
Can you bring in remote guests via Skype, Zoom etc?
Of course. We can bring in remote guests from anywhere in the world using WhatsApp, voice calls or - if you’re recording video - Zoom, Skype or Streamyard. In our larger space we can also feature your guest on a big screen on the wall.
Can you shoot video and how many cameras angles can you do?
From a "quick and dirty" single camera capture in our small studio all the way to three cameras in our larger spaces. Video is a big part of what we do and increasingly a big part of what the audience expects. Let’s talk video.
What about social media images?
We’re cool with you taking pictures to help promote your podcast. Link backs from your socials would be great. We can arrange for professional images if you want to take it up a step or if you have a special guest joining you.
Can I bring in props to dress the studio?
Generally, if it can fit through the front door you can probably bring it in. It’s a good idea to brand the space with your own personality. We’re here to help foster your creativity.
Can you edit our podcast for us?
Of course, we’re happy to discuss any post production you might need. From editing your recording to adding in music and “topping and tailing” with a series ident or opening/closing.
How do I get my recordings?
We’ll send your files over, usually on the same or next day using a cloud service such as Google Drive or similar.
What format will my finished files be in?
Audio files are normally sent as 48k .wav and video files as .mp4 but let us know if you need any other formats - we can usually supply whatever you need.
Can you create teaser videos for us?
Short teasers and trailers are a great way of promoting your podcast on social media. We can definitely edit some teasers if it’s a video podcast or do you a graphic audiogram.
What's the minimum booking period?
Whilst it is possible to record a 45 minute podcast in a 1 hour session you need to be very well prepared. And what about prep time? Pick ups and amends? Or time to get some images for social? For these, and lots of other reasons, we think a 2 hour minimum session is probably less stressful. But if you’re an old hand then talk to us and we’ll see what we can do as part of your whole package.
What about weekends or late nights?
We get it, sometimes you may need to record out of normal office hours. This is fine but we do add a 50% surcharge if your session is after 6pm or at the weekends.
What are your payment terms?
If this is your first time working with us, we would ask that payment is made before your first session. Once we know you, we’re happy to invoice.
Is there parking nearby?
Right over the road. NCP Car Park, North Street, Newport NP20 1JZ.
Is there food nearby?
We’re right in the middle of town. The fabulous, newly refurbished Newport Market is two minutes' walk away.
How close are you to Newport rail station?
We timed it - it's 90 seconds - and we didn’t run!
